On March 10, 2026, CUSP and our partners held a virtual press conference announcing the filing of a new lawsuit challenging the Trump administration’s termination of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Somalia. The termination threatens the safety and stability of tens of thousands of Somali TPS holders across the United States.
The press conference featured remarks from elected officials, legal partners, and organizational plaintiffs on what the lawsuit means for Somali TPS holders and the broader fight to defend immigrant communities from politically motivated TPS terminations. Speakers include:
- Carolyn Tran, Executive Director at Communities United for Status & Protection (CUSP)
- Minnesota Representative Mohamud Noor
- Erik Crew, Staff Attorney at Haitian Bridge Alliance
- Golnaz Fakhimi, Legal Director at Muslim Advocates
- Ramla Shahid, Co-Executive Director at Partnership for the Advancement of New Americans (PANA)
- Diana Konate, Deputy Executive Director, Policy and Advocacy at African Communities Together (ACT)
