Instead of courageously meeting the growing humanitarian needs of asylum seekers with humane, sustainable proposals at the border, this administration continues to push forward cruel, punitive proposals and succumb to false right-wing narratives around migrants and security at the border. The stark contrast between Biden-Harris’ campaign commitments to immigrants and the reality of the policies they are implementing became crystal clear in the weeks approaching the lifting of Title 42. 

CUSP firmly supports and thanks Congressmember Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for boldly standing with immigrant communities with a no vote against the omnibus. Despite any good that may be in this bill, we reject the selfish choice that the Democrats have presented us because we know that even in the difficult world of politics – compromise is possible.

Summerhays to block Title 42 from terminating today, Monday, May 23rd. Under the false guise of public health, Republican Attorney Generals coordinated legal action against the Biden-Harris administration to uphold the ban on entry of asylum-seekers under the policy indefinitely.
